December Business Spotlight: Juice Stored Energy Ltd

Empowering People, Powering Progress

Founded in November 2011 by Andrew Clarke, Juice Stored Energy began its journey in Ollerton near Mansfield with just one engineer and a part-time administrator. What started as a small, independent service provider has grown into a thriving organisation employing around 100 people across the UK and a further 35 across the Benelux region.

From the very beginning, Andrew recognised the importance of structure, governance, and compliance, foundations that would allow the business to grow sustainably while staying agile and responsive to market conditions. As Andrew often jokes, “Juice was created during a crisis and works best when being challenged at all levels.” That resilience, paired with an independent spirit and a deep commitment to people, has driven Juice’s remarkable success story.

Today, Juice Stored Energy is recognised as one of the UK’s leading independent providers of industrial battery and charger services, supporting the material handling, warehousing, and logistics sectors. The business remains proudly rooted in its independence while benefiting from its association with the Ballawnan Group, a partnership that strengthens Juice’s position for continued growth and innovation.

Juice’s headquarters in Blidworth, Nottinghamshire, stands as a symbol of ambition, teamwork, and continuous improvement. The company employs exceptional people across the UK, Northern Ireland, the Netherlands, and Belgium, many of whom have developed their careers from entry-level positions to senior management and director roles. Juice also maintains a strong relationship with local apprenticeship schemes, investing in future generations and helping local talent grow alongside the business.

A major turning point in Juice’s journey has been the adoption of 2 Second Lean and EOS Traction, two guiding systems that have transformed how the company operates. These frameworks empower every team member to eliminate waste, improve flow, and contribute ideas that strengthen the business from within. Andrew explains, “Our goal is simple: to ensure that all energy and focus flows to our customers. By growing our people and creating a culture that values improvement, we build a better experience for our customers, our teams, and our wider community.”

The company’s next ambition is to expand its Lean activities to include customers, suppliers, and local organisations, sharing the same culture of improvement beyond its own walls. Plans are also in motion to introduce Lean thinking to public services and community groups, helping to create a ripple effect of positive change and collaboration across the region.

Juice’s achievements haven’t gone unnoticed, the business was proudly named Business of the Year in 2023, supported by strong partnerships with Vision West Nottinghamshire College and the Mansfield & Ashfield Business Network (previously Mansfield 2020). These relationships highlight Juice’s commitment to community development, education, and sustainable growth.

And the journey is far from over. With ambitious plans to expand further into new European and international markets, Juice continues to fly the flag for Mansfield, proving that world-class innovation, leadership, and culture can thrive right here in the heart of Nottinghamshire.

To local entrepreneurs, Juice’s story stands as a reminder that with courage, clarity, and culture, even the smallest beginnings can become something extraordinary.

Juice welcomes local businesses and leaders to visit its Blidworth headquarters for an immersive Lean Tour, offering a firsthand look at how a culture of continuous improvement drives exceptional service, motivation, and growth.
